Heart of Stone

Hey there guys! 'sup?? Sorry the lack of posting, but studying has taken all my free time

Today i'm just gonna post a lyric that i wrote:

HEART OF STONE

This is a game of cheat and lies
So play the cards and roll the dice
We're not here for glory, neither for fame
We all just want to win the game

Illegal poker in a warehouse, near the docks
It's way past midnight, and the sea hits the rocks
I ask a doubble scotch, with 3 cubes of ice
I'm at the table with 3 other guys

and i think:
You 3 are like theese cubes of ice
Though on the outside, but weaker than a mice
I'm going for all, i don't care if it's risky
And i'll win before i finish my whisky

[Chorus]
'Cause i cheat, and i lie
And i laugh, and you cry!
I win your lifesavings, and i leave you alone
I don't care about your family, i've got a heart of stone!

I look at you and I don't understand your rush
You know i'll win the game with a glorious royal flush
You came with the money, I came with luck
You'll leave with nothing, and I won't give a fuck

Half the scotch's gone and i play a four of a kind
I told you a gambler like me is really hard to find
I know my gambeling style is driving you crazy
You should've practice more, instead of being lazy!

and i say:
All you 3 are shaking because you know you will lose
And every drop of that cold sweat is a help to my amuse
Don't you even dare to give up, my little friend
If you try anything stupid, your life will meet the end

[chorus]

Surviving,
Cheating,
Laughing,
WINNING!

[modafucka kickass solo]

I smile to the others and make my final move
I was the best in that table, and there's nothing left to prove
I grab my millions and i think "Man, that was easy!"
And I leave the warehouse drinking the last sip of my whisky

[chorus]

Hope you've enjoyed it. I'll also leave you a great song by a great Heavy Metal band. Badlands by Metal Church!

Cheers n' Beers!

Black Metal. The true one

Hey there guys! Yesterday i was home, at the pc, and it was rainning the hell out in the street. So I took some minutes to watch something that i really wanted to watch for some time. It's a documentary named True Norwegian Black Metal. It goes deep into the heart of Norway to interview one man who's heart is nothing but a black hole. I'm talking about Gaahl, frontman of the black metal band Gorgoroth.

I'm in the music world, because of several things, but mainly because I love my instrument, and with the goal of becoming the greatest guitar player i can be. To be a good musician and a good composer.
When it comes to extreme black metal, like Gorgoroth, you don't care about the music. All you want to do is to deliver a message. To spread your ideals.

Watch this documentary to the end, divided into 5 parts

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Hard Rock:

Hey there guys!

Today I was thinking about rock and metal bands. And I came to a conclusion. If you just listen to the most commercial bands, you'll never evolve your guitar skills that much.

The bands i'm talking about are: AC/DC, Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Muse, Nirvana, etc... (I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying that you could know waaayy more bands!)

One band i really advise you to listen to, is Extreme. There is only one guitarrist in the band: Nuno Bettencourt. The video is from the song "Decadence Dance". A kickass song, with really awesome riffs and and a great solo

Another band i found out (curiously, they were the support band for Extreme) is Voodoo Six. Imagine a voice that can shout like King Diamond, a guitarrist that is the most perfect replica of Dimebag Darrell alive, an insane drummer, a greeat bassist, and anoter guitar player, full of feeling. Result? Hard Rock with BALLS

this can prove it :P

Well, cheers everyone!

About the fretboard...

Ok, so I admit it. I'm getting addicted to the Am arpeggio in sweep picking. But how can i do it in different ways, always keeping the root, 3rd and 5th pattern?

So this is how i did:

Green dots represent A (root note)
Blue dots represent C (minor 3rd)
Red dots represent E (perfect 5th)

To keep the no-inversion pattern, all you have to do is play A C E, or the descendent pattern E C A.

This is a little exercise i made, to practice this (it's only 5/4 so it could all fit in)

Cheers and beers everyone!

Neoclassical Guitar

Hey there! Today I'll talk about what i'm playing (guitar)

Latelly, I've been trying to develop a neoclassical way of playing. I mean, playing metal with classical components.
About neoclassical playing:

  • Based on regular intervals (let's take a 3rd [minor or major, according to the scale], for example)
Em - CM - DM - Bm - CM - Am - Bm
  • Use of pedal points (repetition of a note or a group of notes alternatly with the melody). Here's a little example, beeing F# the pedal note

  • Use of Ostinatos (Repetition of a phrase, a lick, or an idea)
  • Playing fast Arpeggios. Minor and Diminished are the most used, though.

Here's something that i just love to play. It's a part from "Toccata et Fugue", from J.S. Bach.

(click on the image to see it bigger)

If you want to learn more about the style, here are some guitarrists that you should listen to:

Yngwie Malmsteen

Vinnie Moore

Jeff Loomis

Cacophony (Jason Becker and Marty Friedman)

There are a lot more, mail me if you're interested to know.

Cheers everyone!
